I assume the best will come again For ready I am taken to that place Keep a waiting eye, leave a beating heart Once you see it kind rip it all apart Out of sight you drift into the gray Now in front of me, now in disarray Now a part of me, now a silhouette Now in front of me, now in disarray One time when a memory served you Disappear with no trace I should keep more in touch I should hear you That's the first way in
2.
High Lightning sunbeam right in This way straight down Refine how you see Ease off leisure suit You hang so nice What let you down Flashes of your face heat the road Look up I'm awake Let me know you who saves Watch your number What's the news, man
3.
What if they talk you into coming where you are When the hour's late fighting off the ghost will slow the arms It's very near so I'm holding tight your hand to climb across There's just a half moon left creeping down until you give it all I always want to find the other fortunes I have heard Deep inside your mind I always want to I always want to find the other fortunes I have heard Deep inside your mind I always want to go where you live There's so much to give me now Is it safe to be this high and be so low and on It's like a torrid grace Happy for this moment in the song I hope that I find what falls in Til then I keep my eyes all drawn in On the surfaces on the switching gears The phantom's in love with the last to live

So Go 04:15
Long may you rise over all heavy walls Horizon on you Where are you who knows your ghosts Lifting vague faces off Dark stars humming low So lightly drift close your eyes rising tall Losing thoughts reach you Vanishing edge of my mind Half awake shadows lean I miss you sunshine Vanishing edge of my mind Tracing cold shadows I'm missing you What makes you lay half alive Soon to call break the time Night so go Long may you lay Half alive wondering I brace the time So go

6.
There was something in that dark field Too far to reach hold Still so familiar and graceful I'm in a wide place fueled on outer fires Smoke on living glass I'll go move on and take mountains of your heart Look up I have you There was something on that dark eye again Too far to reach hold Still familiar, so graceful Your eyes strike on you Black ember miles smile on as you pass I can take you on me Look up I have you Why let the hour go Moon on living weight What time this is to be alive

A review from Daz Lawrence, Triggerwarning.tv:

Bostonians Dyr Faser are spell-check’s worst nightmare but corrective spelling aside, the general apathy to the mainstream’s attention to them remains a mystery. They’ve had their wobbles – unstable, shifting line-ups; at least one release which perhaps thought a little too much of itself (or possibly gave no thought to very much at all) but ‘Vanishing Edge’ is the resurrection of a band…if two people can be a band, who treat sound like master jewellers treat shiny pebbles.

To clarify, ‘Vanishing Edge’ is a 7-track album. There has been none of that current nonsense of accusing anything between 2 tracks and 35 of being an EP. I simply have no idea where that silliness sprang from, or why EPs ever became a thing. Singles or albums, everyone – no-one is interested in your half-way house. Dyr Faser remain a duo – Eric Boomhower and Amelia May given roles in the operation nominally but in reality trade instruments and lead vocals in a relay race fashion, with the baton remaining tightly clutched regardless. I’ve tried, over the past few years, to attempt to put them in some kind of musical context, which has always proved tricky – there’s German electronic stuff in there; slow-burn dream pop; drizzles of shoe gaze but with Vanishing Edge comes the clearest view of where they fit – they are the Martin Denny and Les Reed of electro-rock. They are exotica for the post-Space Age.

The Space Age was great but it turns out, it finished in the sixties, in fact the very second we touched down on the Moon and discovered only dust and a faint hum, with not a spot of cheese nor sight of a smiling face. The Jetsons lied. Charlatans, vagabonds and bullshitters, the lot of ’em. Space isn’t fun in the slightest. Esquivel’s dreams of whistling astronauts and fishbowl helmets are mid-20th Century babbling. The post-Space Age, the here and now where flecks of paint cause billion dollar satellites to sink to fiery doom and Martian drones seize up the minute they contemplate embarking on their journeys, is where Dyr Faser’s sound lives. It’s the loneliness of life faraway; the reality of crushing defeat; the glory of not dying.

At full pelt, such as opener, “The First Way In”, the band are android guardians of Velvet Underground’s legacy of smart, angular pop, happy to leave long spaces between verses for the sparking and groaning of their sound to stew. At their most lugubrious – “Living Weight” and “Kiss It All Goodbye”, there is the sensation of being sucked in by quicksand whilst being force-fed laughing gas. Every note, like every grain of sand, quickens the heart, for rich or poorer. I’ll quite happy to admit I thought Dyr Faser had had their run in the sun and we could all clap politely and whilst we put the bins out. In fact, I struggle to see anything this year matching the majesty of all this. Fucking show-offs.

From Turn Up The Volume! blog:

The experimental, sound-exploring duo have a new, highly intriguing album out called VANISHING EGDE. Music you won’t hear on the radio. Music you won’t hear in an elevator. Music you won’t hear at fake parties. No, it’s music for nightdreamers, for open-minded ears, for soul-searching spirits who love starry-eyed vocals.

So far DYR FASER launched videos for 5 of the 7 tracks.

DOING FINE DOING TIME
Psychotomimetic jaunt. Trippy. Illusory. Imaginary. Fanciful.

KISS IT ALL GOODBYE
Twilight dream. Glimmering David Lynch guitars. Mournful vocals.

I suppose videos will follow for the two remaining tracks. The dancey ‘In Love With The Last To Live‘ vibration with shadowy duet vocals and emotive meditation Living Weight.

A review from Boston Hassle:

Dyr Faser is a Boston based post progressive rock duo consisting of Eric Boomhower and Amelia May. The best way to describe Dyr Faser’s music would be an auditory acid trip. Their latest album, Vanishing Edge, is full of electronic and hypnotic vibes that’ll make any listener feel like they’re on another plane of existence.

The elements that are involved in the creation of Vanishing Edge helps give the album a psychedelic feeling.

The first song on the album, “The First Way In”, works to establish the synthesized feeling from the very beginning. Boomhower and May used echoing vocals on this track to give it a haunting and eerie feeling.

The percussive elements featured on the tracks work to give Vanishing Edge its mesmerizing and hypnotic feeling as well. This is particularly evident on the song “Straight Down”. It has a pulse and a beat to it that could be described as chilled out or relaxed. This could be seen as a tool to add to the track’s psychedelic feeling. It evokes feelings of relaxation in an almost spaced out way, similar to the sensation that could happen when under the influence of certain substances.

“Doing Fine Doing Time” features a progression of ascending and descending lines at various points of the song. The inclusion of these lines work to add to the song’s trippy feeling. There’s a lot happening on this track, but it works. It adds to the song’s mystique, which makes it a perfect fit on Vanishing Edge.

One thing that can be observed is that the songs on Vanishing Edge tend to be on the longer side, with the longest clocking in at just under six and a half minutes. While this may be a little longer than most of the songs you’d typically hear on the radio, the long songs fit with the hypnotic feeling that Vanishing Edge has. The long songs make it feel like you’re taking part in one continuous trip.

Overall, Vanishing Edge perfectly does the job of making a listener feel mesmerized, as though they’re on another plane of existence. It’s an easy fit into the psychedelic rock genre.

A review from Terence Burke:

First off - the overall sound of the album sounds fantastic. Magnificent.
The care and attention to the production really stands out for me, someone who has closely listened to all of your records over the years.
This album has everything I've always cherished about 'the Dyr Faser sound'.

I enjoy the fast songs, but you both know - it's the slow songs that are the ones that always really strike and resonate with me.
As noted, I've always had a great affinity for slow, torch songs, in general, from all artists.

I can say however, after repeated listens, 'The First Way In' has really grown on me. I like it more and more each time I hear it. I enjoy the dual vocals.

'Straight Down' is absolutely an amazing feat of work. The mix with phasing/panning from speaker to speaker. Super duper fucking cool and effective. One of my faves.

'In Love With the Last to Live' - it's growing on me with more listens.

'So Go' - another favorite stand out track for my ears - 'aural therapy' - it just makes my brain feel happy and relaxed as I listen. haha You can quote me.

'Doing Fine Doing Time' is quite unique and engaging. Somewhat different than other Eric stuff? I think this is an Eric song, right? It's really slowly becoming one of my more favorite tracks.
The instrumentation is quite interesting and the vocal effects on both your voices is extra special.

'Living Weight' - another stand out. How many ways can I describe why I love songs like this? It makes me ruminate and feel deeply and I can imagine myself listening to this lovingly for years to come.

'Kiss It All Goodbye' Another perfect 'slow song' - great brain massage. Really stuck with me, and a great capper to the album. Really love it.

I *really* am able to separate 'the music' from 'my friends' -

if I did not genuinely love your music, I wouldn't be gushing so much!!
I'd be politely ignoring your music if I didn't think it was fan-fucking-tastic.
I miss you both, and really enthusiastically enjoy your work, so thank you as always.

Sending best wishes to you both.
Can't wait for the next record! (and live show)
And kitchen hangs too!
